I have been thinking of doing yet another redesign of madberry.org. I am seriously considering to even re-brand my blog. Several SEO “experts” that I have asked about re-branding say go for it. The name I am thinking of has all of the TLD’s I need free, I am talking .com, .net and .org. It was a previously used domain name by a party which I will not disclose at the moment. Yes I do know this could cause a problem with back-links how ever I am not planning of getting rid of madberry.org so a simple 301 should keep all links working just fine. I think I will also sell some of my domain names that I don’t really have a purpose for yet. I will keep the cool ones but thin out my portfolio a bit. I need to focus on running projects. I also noticed that, since I have increased the frequency of articles on Bright Hub, I have little time for anything else. I want to get back into really focusing on writing for this blog as well, with re-branding plans I need to post on a regular basis again. I know some of you love to read about my problems with many Linux projects.
I have been thinking lately it’s time to get something ultra portable. What I’m looking for is something small and light, with enough beef to work on a remote location. Even though I love my Toshiba, when trying to be mobile even a 15″ is too big and heavy to comfortably log around.
I have been working of my laptop for close to two years now, and besides the fact that a two year old machine is out of date, I want to be able to work anywhere. Also the glare in the screen of this Toshiba really bothered me today when I was planing on working outside. For the first time in years I have been looking for something else then Toshiba. When looking at laptops to replace this one, the Lenovo line keeps popping up and I must say I love what I’m seeing there. They are finally stepping away from that dreadful boxy look that we are used to from IBM Lenovo. I have yet to actually put my hands on one but the design of the new Lenovo lines look really awesome. Take the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 for instance. I love the way that keyboard looks. But when reading Mark Shuttleworth Blog about gestures with multitouch in Ubuntu 10.10, I suddenly could also consider the IdeaPad S10-3t. The S10-3t has you guessed it a touchscreen. Lenovo calls it a tablet, which you could call it even after Steve said a tabled is has no keyboard.
I am using a new url shortener script called YOURLS. This is a test post to make sure my WordPress plugin, used for auto posting to ping.fm, is still working.
Sorry if this post caused you any grief in any way.
Today I noticed that me.madberry.org wasn’t working as expected. The site was showing the “Error Establishing Database Connection” error. This error was caused by some tables in the database becoming corrupted. It is now fixed as you can see.
After updating my HTPC / general use computer to 10.04, I noticed Filezilla crashing every time I tried to scroll or go into a remote folder.
After some research using Google, which resulted in nothing, I decided to look into this problem a little deeper. I started by looking through the logs which yielded nothing either. I removed Filezilla with and without purge(purge should delete all of the files used by Filezilla) this also didn’t fix my problem.
Next I deleted the ~/.filezilla folder, a hidden folder in my home directory also know as ~, this fixed the problem. If you would like to keep the folder then just rename the folder:
mv ~/.filezilla ~/filezilla_OLD
