I have just finished recovering data from a severe server crash. This was a bad one that started out with the server eating all of the memory. I had to do a recompile of Apache and PHP and restore from a back-up. As far as I can tell all services are running as they where before the crash. Sorry for any inconvenience this day and a half server issue might have caused you.
Both of my personal blogs have now been integrated into madberry.org. Me.madberry.org and hyves.madberry.org are both now pointing to madberry.org with a 301 redirect. It’s all part of my plan to redesign, re-brand and refocus. Sorry for the old blogpost spam on Facebook and Twitter I totally forgot that would happen. Me.madberry.org can now be found under the Personal category. Hyves.madberry.org can now be found under the Hyves category (dutch posts only).
I have found myself in spam hell the last couple of months. Not so much because of my laptop or desktops, they all run spamassassin. No it’s the Peek my mobile e-mail and text device. I got rid of my cellphone at the beginning of this year, I wasn’t really using it to call with anymore. The Peek is a great device but they don’t do an spam catching, which is great because I wouldn’t want them to.
I did find these scripts from ConfigServer Services. The offer this script for free. In addition you can buy the front-end add-on for cPanel. This is only $35 for a server license which I think is pretty cheap for what you get. I already run some of the other scripts they provide. They are a trusted source for not only free scripts but server configuration services as well. There website is also a great source for several cPanel related articles.
MailScanner, the scritp the above script installs does use SpamAssassin and ClamAV for spam and virus detection. I will have to monitor what this will do to mainly my memory on the server. I don’t really want to drive up the cost of hosting, and having to increase memory because of SpamAssassin could do this.
With the amount of articles steadily growing a redesign of the Bright Hub page was eminent. I decided to redesign this page before the blog redesign. I will be redesigning the blog first before re-branding it.
Let’s face it we all live an Online life we visit many websites in a day, most of which have a login. We need to remember these different passwords and usernames, we know using the same credentials on several website is not save. You wouldn’t want a malicious person to gain access to all of your online account.
There are ways to save a password and username, no I don’t mean write them down on a piece of paper or in a spreadsheet, password managers are keepers of sensitive information. All of them use some sort of encryption to keep data save. We have several option to choose from some are even cross-platform compatible, for those ninjas that also need to work in Windows or Mac sometimes.
