Installation
Requirements for this script are a web server with FTP access PHP and MySQL. Installation is an easy 5 step process.
- Upload the script. Or if you have direct access put the files on your server.
- Open a browser and surf to the script http://example.com/hesk read and agree to the disclaimer.
- The script will then check the setup to make sure requirement are met.
- Put in your database information.
- The Script will then setup the database tables.
Please make sure before installing that you read the readme file that comes in the archive of HESK.
First Use Let’s Configure
Login to the administrator account to configure your installation.
Go to http://example.com/hesk/admin
and login to the administrator account with:
User name: Administrator
Password: admin
Go to the administrator profile and CHANGE THE PASSWORD before you do anything else.
Now you can:
- Add new users.
- Add new Categories.
- Add “canned responses” These are automated responses to common support questions.
That’s it your customers can now go to http://example.com/hesk to start support tickets.
My Opinion
This would have been great to use a few years a go when I was working at an employer who needed this kind of system. I build one myself from the ground up and as far as I know the employer is still using the system for internal computer support. If I would have had access to Help Desk Support Software like HESK then I would have used this. It’s so feature rich that small to big support desks will be able to use this with out a problem.
HESK help desk support software is totally customizable and it would be easy to apply your own design. If you buy a license you are even allowed to remove the HESK copyright. Thus branding HESK with your own logo’s and copyright.
